Prime Timers is a worldwide brotherhood of mature gay and bisexual men and their friends, joining together for  educational, support, and social activities.

Prime Timers are men who choose not to have their social life revolve around bars, but are not necessarily averse to going there.

Prime Timers are men who are active in their communities, involved in  volunteerism, gay issues, politics, arts and entertainment and every other facet of healthy living.

Our membership, both retired and working, is diverse as society in general.  We actively participate in the community, with focus on enriching our lives.  Professionaly, we are social workers, plumbers, teachers, clergymen, police officers, engineers, physicians, nurses, managers, and more.

Prime Timers was founded in Boston in August, 1987 by a retired professor, Woody Baldwin, because he felt a void existed in our society which focuses on youth.  This is all the more evident in gay society, he realized, with its emphasis on eternal youth.

From that beginning in Boston, Prime Timers Worldwide has grown to more than 70 chapters and affiliates in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Sweden, creating a world wide network for members to contact when traveling.

Boston is proud to be the Founding Chapter!

Mission Statement

"The mission of the Boston Prime Timers, founded in 1987, is to provide adult gay, bisexual and transgender men and their friends in eastern New England with educational, cultural and social activities that enrich their lives by building and reinforcing safe, supportive connections for both active and isolated members while continuing our history of developing support among the broader aging and general populations for recognition of the specific needs of men like our members".
